Great article. I'm also a freelancer newbie. Just so you all know, I found this article through a spreadsheet template on Google Docs based on the milestones laid out in the article. The spreadsheet is located here: http://docs.google.com/previewtemplate?id=0AkWDC1pg8kCwdDJacS1NNHg1a1otNUxoZWluNTVGVUE&mode=public

Great article - thank you! As I am a novice designer / developer who hopes to begin Freelancing this upcoming year - this will be a good stepping stone for me to have a process and some direction.

I like the way how your organize the milestones for the web project.

This is actually a great article, I would love to publish it on PM Hut. Please either email me or contact me through the "Contact Us" form on the PM Hut site in case you're OK with this.

I don't have a set system that I use like this. Although I guess i do work in milestones, the milestones vary for each project that I do. I really like to get each step approved by the client before moving on. I usually use WordPress as the CMS, just because I'm so familiar with the theme and plugin structure in WordPress.

Many people prefer Joomla because it is more feature rich, but I'd rather have a light CMS and add feature (plugins) as I need them. It's nice to be able to write your own plugins when you need to too, just incase what you're looking for hasn't been done yet.
